About this piece
Thrown tall and narrow, which sounds simple and isn’t: the taller a form climbs, the more the clay wants to spiral off-centre. You feel the wall thinning under your fingers and have to stop at exactly the right moment.
The celadon glaze is the reason to make this form. It’s a translucent green that breaks lighter over the raised throwing rings and pools darker in the valleys, so it maps the whole history of how the pot was made. Fill it or leave it empty — it holds its own on a shelf.
